1st Annual Triangle Food Blogger Canning Swap

2011 June 24

I have a confession, I’m an addict, and my drug is canning. For the past few weeks I’ve been putting up anything I can get my hands on; pickles, carrots, cherries, strawberries…you name, I’ll shove it in a mason jar and preserve it! I’ve talked to a few other people who suffer from similar addictions and came up with the idea of having a Food Blogger Jam Swap, except more than just jams, so a Food Blogger Canning Swap! Here are the details:

What: 1st Annual Triangle Food Blogger Canning Swap

When: Sunday, July 31st at 3pm

Where: Fullsteam Brewery, 726 Rigsbee Ave, Durham

How: You bring up to 5 jars of your homemade jam, jelly, chutney, sauce, salsa, or pickles. Local ingredients encouraged, and bring copies of your recipe to share if you like! For each jar you bring you get a chance to swap. Names will be dropped into a hat and chosen at random, and we’ll keep drawing until everyone has gotten to make their allotted swaps.

To sign up: Shoot me an e-mail at matt[at]greeneatsblog[dot]com or contact me on Twitter by July 25th.

Let’s get canning!

Thanks for putting this out into the webworld, Matt. What a fine idea. Love this photograph, and I love the can-plan. I won’t be in town for this event; neither shall she can, nor shall she can-swap, to put it in King James-y lingo, since it is Sunday and I’m feeling silly. But I will eagerly await pictures and tales from this gathering after it’s all said and sealed and done.
